Mental Health at Work: a guide to mental health awareness in the workplace
Businesses and organisations function best when their employees are happy and healthy - that’s why supporting employees’ mental health and wellbeing in the workplace is so important.
The COVID-19 pandemic has seen a shift in working patterns, with working from home becoming the new norm. As a result of this, workers are facing a new set of challenges.
This online course aims to raise awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing in the workplace, provide an introduction to common mental health disorders and offer advice and guidance to maintaining good mental health.
This course has been created with support from Mental Health First Aid England.
Aims of the course
On completion, you will understand:
- What mental health is.
- The different mental health conditions that exist and their signs and symptoms.
- How to look after your own mental health at work.
- How to support your staff and colleagues.
- How COVID-19 has shifted working patterns.
- How to look after your mental health whilst working from home.

Who is the course aimed at?
The course is for anyone in the general public who is interested in learning more about how to look after their mental health in the workplace. This course also provides guidance and advice to employers or managers about how to support their staff and collegues.

This course is free for RSPH members and £26.50 for the general public.

You can buy a course for yourself, or multiple to assign to other learners. If you are buying a course for yourself, you should tick the ‘assign course to yourself’ box at the check-out.
The course topics will be split out into three modules, with activities to test your knowledge, as you work through the modules. It can be paused and restarted whenever you like, and you have six months to complete the course. The entire course involves up to one hour of study.
