This free online course has been developed by University College London (UCL) and Created out of Mind, with an interdisciplinary team of scientists, visual artists, musicians, researchers, broadcasters, clinicians, people living with dementias and carers.
The group was the recipient of Wellcome’s Hub award, taking up residency at The Hub - a unique, creative space at Wellcome Collection in London. This course is part of their residency legacy.
Over a period of four weeks, the course will explore, challenge and shape your perceptions of dementias and will investigate what we can all do to improve the quality of life and care for people living with different dementias.
Topics include:
- Seeing the dementias differently through the arts and seeing the arts differently through the dementias
- How can moments be understood, experienced and measured?
- Creating Common Ground: The arts, equality and dementia
- Language & Communication: How can we change the conversation?
This course is accredited by the RSPH and is recognised by its CPD recognition scheme. Learners who complete the course and choose to upgrade will earn 8 CPD points on successful completion of all assessment elements.
The course is hosted on the FutureLearn website. This course is currently live on the FutureLearn website, and will expire in December 2019. The next course will start in Spring 2020. The estimated learning time is 2 hours per week and learners progress at their own pace.
