Can you tell us about what you are studying and why?

I am currently pursuing my MSc in Public Health at University of Salford because I am deeply committed to improving health outcomes and addressing health disparities within communities. This program provides me with a solid foundation in epidemiology, health policy, and environmental health.

What are your plans after your graduate?

After completing my studies, my intention is to pursue a career in health policy, community health, or epidemiology. I foresee myself taking on positions within public health organizations, non-profits, or government agencies, where I can actively participate in shaping and executing health initiatives that have a meaningful impact on individuals' well-being.

Can you give us an overview of what you think your career path in public health will look like, and what support could help you along this journey?

Support from mentors in the field, networking opportunities, and access to internships would be incredibly beneficial in helping me navigate my career journey, which is why I recently applied for student membership in the Royal Society of Public Health. Engaging with professionals who have experience in public health can provide valuable insights and guidance.

Why is a career in public health important to you?

A career in public health is important to me because I want to contribute to addressing urgent health issues, particularly in underserved populations. I believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality healthcare and resources that support overall well-being.

What are the biggest challenges you are facing with your career journey?

Nevertheless, I encounter challenges on this journey, such as the competitive job market and the necessity to acquire practical experience while managing my studies. Moreover, staying updated on evolving public health issues and policies can be overwhelming. However, I am dedicated to conquering these obstacles to have a significant influence in the field.

What area(s) of public health are you the most passionate about?

I am most passionate about health policy, global health, environmental health, and community health. I believe that focusing on these areas can lead to significant improvements in health outcomes and equity within populations.

What do you think the next 10 years look like for public health?

As we look forward to the next 10 years, I believe that public health will increasingly focus on addressing health disparities and social determinants of health. The impact of global health challenges like pandemics and climate change will likely influence the priorities in the field. There will be a stronger emphasis on preventive measures, health education, and community engagement to empower individuals and communities to take control of their health.

Furthermore, advancements in technology and data analytics will play a crucial role in public health, allowing for more effective tracking of health trends and targeted interventions. Overall, I envision a future where public health is more integrated with other sectors, such as education and housing, to create comprehensive strategies that promote overall well-being.
