Yesterday (29/11/11), at the House of Lords, the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) presented certificates to the winners of the Health Promotion and Community Well Being Awards 2011.
This year the Awards scheme has been further enhanced by the participation of a diverse range of organisations, ranging from local authorities to community radio.
The winners are:
- School Food Trust
- Sefton Partnership
- East Herts Council
- Awaaz Radio
- St Mary's University College-Centre for Workplace Health
- Well London Partnership
- Purely Nutrition
The RSPH would like to congratulate the winners and we would like to thank them for their outstanding work and commitment with the health and well being of their communities.
The aim of the Awards is to recognise achievement in the development and implementation of health promotion and community well-being strategies and initiatives, in support of the health promotion workforce. This is the fourth year that RSPH has the honour of supporting and encouraging good practice in health promotion through this scheme.
This year's winners illustrate the importance of partnership working and the enduring relevance of the Ottawa Charter approach to improving and sustaining community health and well-being. The impact that each project has had on their local community, shows that when it comes to improving health, a joined up approach is key.
Professor Richard Parish, Chief Executive of the RSPH, commented, “The Health Promotion Awards winners all demonstrated just what can be achieved with local leadership and enthusiasm. The Royal Society for Public Health is delighted to be associated with all these local initiatives. They are examples for others to follow. Congratulations!”
RSPH would also like to extend our thanks to Lord Hunt, our President, for hosting the event.
